Asda – Creating an Android Library in Figma (Case Study)

As part of our migration from Sketch/Zeplin to Figma, we needed to recreate and refine our design libraries. I was tasked with the Android library which was a great opportunity to delve deeper into the Android interface guidelines having spent much of the previous years primarily on web and iOS.

Using the legacy libraries and core web libraries as a starting point, I created the Android version, ensuring we align with the Material guidelines wherever possible and also updating neglected areas of the Asda android app that had fallen behind in consistency with our primary web and iOS apps.

This library was pushed out to designers at an early stage so I was able to gather rapid feedback about how the components were performing and any missing parts.
